Summer Recap 2025
“They know something is missing” -Mia, 4th grade
The final week of school we held a “camp” for our students. The theme for middle and high school was “Spiritual Disciplines” The elementary students theme was “Finding Jesus.” This year I (Reagan) have been helping teach fourth grade so I was in charge of doing the chapel debriefs in the afternoon with them. After one afternoon chapel, our discussion was about how we know we have Jesus in our heart. All of the students in our school have heard the Gospel many times and know that God designed their heart to be in communion with Him. The kids know that our hearts aren’t complete without knowing the One who created us.
Once this idea was brought to the group, the students began to discuss the ways that we try to fill the “god sized hole” with worldly things. They mentioned things like money, cars, soccer (because of course) and even relationships. This turned into a great conversation about how we have already had the opportunity to learn about what it is that our hearts long for and now we can share with everyone we meet about God’s love! We can tell then that He is what they need to fulfill the longing in their hearts. I pray that my students will share this boldly with other in their lives!
“Always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you
for a reason for the hope that is in you.” -1 Peter 3:15
Summer recap:
-This summer we celebrated two Quinceñeras for girls who live at our Children’s Home. Fifteenth birthdays are a big deal for young ladies here! Chase spent countless hours working to make these parties unique and beautiful. Both girls chose to share worship songs! We are grateful to continue to pour into their lives each year.
-Two of our teenagers graduated from El Camino Bilingual School in June! We are so proud of their hard work and excited to watch them take the next steps in God’s plan for their lives.
-We were able to visit Chase’s family in Wyoming and Reagan’s family in Texas. We are always so encouraged and refreshed by time with family and it was so special to see Ruthie connect with her grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles.
-As the new school year starts Reagan will be heading back to school to teach 3rd grade! She is so excited to dive back into another school year and get to know a new group of kids. Her class has 21 students this year.
Praises:
-Our family’s church in Wyoming shared about our Home at their VBS and the kids raised money for our home! This has been an amazing blessing to us and we are so grateful!
-Ruthie was granted her residency here in Honduras!
-All of our kids, from pre-kinder to 9th grade, are off to a great start at school this year!
-The two young men we have mentioned in previous letters officially started university and are thriving! We are so proud of them.
Prayers:
-Wisdom as we continue to disciple and care for Ruthie and all the kids in our Home.
-Please pray for our kids as they start a new school year!
Many thanks and blessings,
The Grays
